We are only two weeks through the NBA basketball season, but it basketball always a good time to take a fantasy basketball inventory. It is certainly too early for fantasy owners to panic if struggling or plan for where to spend league winnings, but it is a good time to evaluate your team.
At the time of this writing, the current points leader is LeBron James. This is not a shock, though it will only take a big game or two at this point for Kobe Bryant or another player to catch him. James is in for a big payday soon no matter how he plays this season, but his fast start certainly basketball hurt. In other news, Tony Parker will miss significant time due to injury, but he stands as the second leading scorer per game. Fantasy owners will have a tough time finding a replacement for him.
Golden State Warriors big man Andris Biedrins leads all players in rebounds per game, which is an encouraging sign for the future of the Warriors. He has double-digit rebounds in all seven games played this season, including a monster performance on November 3 when he brought down 22 boards. The 22-year-old has seen an uptick in minutes played, and he has increased his average rebounds per game by almost 50 percent. With the difficulty of finding centers in fantasy basketball, Biedrins' contribution is quite welcome.
It's not shocking that point guard Chris Paul leads the league in assists per game and steals per game. He was a top three pick in most drafts, especially after his incredible showing during last season's playoffs. Fantasy owners can at least be happy that he has been as advertised thus far.
