3 Ways to Create Success in Girls Basketball

Did you know that you can draw success to yourself in girls basketball? You can create a magnetic force that pulls success your way. Players, coaches and teams that excel and seem to be overwhelmingly successful over and over and over again do not get that way by accident. They implement these strategies.

Expect Success

In 2008, Davidson College men's basketball team was basketball points shy from going to the Final Four. I heard this comment on ESPN after Davidson lost to Kansas in the Sweet 16.

"We expected to win," Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. "We didn't come here content or satisfied. We expected to win. This has been a 12-month mission. It came down to one final play. That's the beauty of this game that we play."

Unfortunately, Davidson did not reach the Final Four nor win the National Championship. However, Davidson set many records during the 2007-2008 season.

I believe that if Davidson had not expected to win, they would not have set records for the school year nor have been in position to be 3 points from playing in the Final Four.

Think Success

You are what you think about.

Norman Vincent Peale said "Change your thoughts and you change your world".

If you change the way you think about basketball, you can change the direction of your basketball career.

Speak Success

Speak about basketball in a positive tone to yourself.

You can post positive sayings or affirmations around your room, in your locker or in your notebook and basketball them out loud. Sayings like "I am a starter on the team," "I believe in myself," or "There is a women's college basketball scholarship for me."

Expecting, thinking and speaking success is just the beginning of creating success. It is really an amazing process. Because once you start to expect, think and speak success, you will begin to do the activities necessary for the success to appear.
